Samburu National Reserve is one of the lesser-known national parks, but is nevertheless teeming with life.
Situated alongside the Ewaso Nyiro River, there is plenty to attract wildlife from the surrounding savannah plains.
The reserve is rich in wildlife with an abundance of rare northern specialist species such as the Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and the beisa oryx (also referred to as Samburu Special Five).
The reserve is also home to elephants and large predators such as the lion, leopard and cheetah. Kamunyak the miracle lioness that adopted the baby oryx was as a resident in the reserve.
Wild dog sightings are also a common attraction to this unique protected area. Birdlife is abundant with over 450 species recorded

Day 1 Arrival in Nairobi
Arrival in Nairobi from your home country.
Welcome and transfers to Samburu National Reserve, where you will be staying at Sarova Shaba Game Lodge. Arrive in the late evening (Depending on the departure time from Nairobi) where we will have a game drive before we head to the hotel for check in.
Freshen up and relax and enjoy the lodge facilities.
Day 2 Full Day in Samburu
Full day in Samburu with morning and afternoon game drives. You may see Elephants, Cheetah, Leopard, Eland, Oryx, Impala, Dikdik, Waterbuck and a variety of birds. This lava plain includes a varied landscape of red dirt, thorn scrub, broken volcanic rock, dried riverbeds, steep hills and rocky outcroppings.
Following the river’s curves, a forest of Doum Palms, Acacia and tamarind is a magical contrast of cool green. Other areas of the Reserve include the Uaso Nyiro River where crocodiles sun bath themselves on the banks. It also provides an oasis for a variety of game.
Birds are abundant, with 365 species recorded, one for every day of the year. In between the game drives, there is an opportunity to visit a Samburu village at an additional cost.
Return back in time for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3 Samburu National Reserve to Ol Pejeta Conservancy
After breakfast you will depart for Serena Sweet Waters Tented Camp inside Ol Pejeta Conservancy. You will arrive in time for lunch after which you will depart for a game drive to explore the Chimpanzee Sanctuary as well as the Rhino Sanctuary. After this you will enjoy the scenic views of the area as you enjoy the wildlife.
You will later go back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
(Ol Pejeta Conservancy is one of the few areas in Kenya where you can enjoy a Night Game Drive and with this once in a lifetime experience, be assured that Rosolo has booked you one of this for you to enjoy)
Day 4 Ol Pejeta Conservancy to Aberdare National Park
After a hearty breakfast you will check-out and begin your journey to the Ark Lodge located in the Aberdare National Park. Here, you will get the opportunity to enjoy the Kenyan Central Highlands as your journey progresses on to the Lodge. Arrive at the Lodge in-time for lunch and then check into the hotel.
You will then have an afternoon game drive at the park, where you will get to visit the Chania Falls and also the moorland inside the park. Sightings of game and birdlife.
Later be transferred to the lodge in time for dinner and where you will observe the elephants from the view point of the lodge. Overnight stay at the park.
Day 5 Aberdare National Park to Nairobi
After breakfast depart from your hotel and head to Nairobi.
Depending on your flight timings we can organize a short city tour and possibly a visit to the Maasai market
